Gisell Villanueva

I’m a dedicated HR and business professional with a BBA in Management from the University of Houston’s C.T. Bauer College of Business, where I specialized in Human Resources and earned a minor in Marketing along with a Corporate Entrepreneurship Certificate. I graduated with high honors and have consistently been recognized on the Dean’s Honor Roll.

With over five years of experience spanning human resources, court operations, and tax preparation. I bring a well-rounded, people-focused approach to every role I take on. Currently, I serve as an HR Specialist for local government in Harris County, Houston TX, where I manage end-to-end HR functions—from recruitment and onboarding to policy development and performance tracking. I also represent the department at career fairs and lead initiatives to modernize HR practices.

I hold certifications from Rice University and The University of Texas at Austin in HR and leadership essentials. I am also PHR certified which demonstrates my technical and operational knowledge of HR management, including U.S Laws and regulations.

In addition to my HR background, I have hands-on experience in tax preparation through my work with H&R Block, which inspired me to launch my own small tax business in 2020. This entrepreneurial venture has allowed me to support individuals and small business owners with accurate, personalized tax solutions—further fueling my passion for empowering local communities through financial literacy and business guidance. Moreover, I am registered in the AFSP Program from the IRS which allows me to represent clients before the IRS. Tax preparers not registered in this program can only prepare the tax returns.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, I’m passionate about creating inclusive, efficient workplaces and helping organizations and individuals reach their full potential. Outside of work, I enjoy giving back through volunteering at Baker Ripley in their immigration forums and at the Houston Food Bank.
